Kaley McIntyre Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Three-time Division III Swimmer of the Year recognized among nation’s top student-athletes

The New York University women's swimming and diving team saw one of its top student-athletes earn national recognition, as Kaley McIntyre was selected as a recipient of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The award provides a one-time $10,000 grant to support graduate study.

McIntyre was one of 42 winter sport student-athletes across all NCAA divisions to receive the scholarship, which recognizes excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and community service.

One of the most accomplished swimmers in program history, McIntyre capped off her career with a dominant 2025-26 season. She was named Division III Swimmer of the Year for the third straight year and won national titles in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle, and in three relay events as the Violets captured the first National Championship in program history.

"I'm incredibly honored to be selected for the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship," McIntyre said. "My time at NYU has shaped me both academically and athletically, and this recognition reflects the support of my teammates, coaches, and professors who pushed me to grow every day. Thank you to the NCAA for providing me with this incredible support as I pursue graduate studies."

As a junior, she set Division III records in the 50 and 100 freestyle and broke the NYU record in the 200 freestyle, while also winning national titles in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle and helping lead the 800 freestyle relay to a national championship.

McIntyre first earned Division III Swimmer of the Year honors as a sophomore after winning national titles in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle, as well as the 800 freestyle relay.

As a freshman, McIntyre made an immediate impact with two individual national championships and University Athletic Asociation (UAA) Rookie of the Year honors.  She also earned First Team All-America honors in the 400 freestyle relay, 800 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, and 200 freestyle relay, and was Second Team All-American in the 200 backstroke at the NCAA Division III Championships.

Outside of the pool, McIntyre also stood out academically, earning CSC Academic All-America First Team honors, multiple CSCAA Scholar All-America selections, multiple UAA Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team recognitions,  and repeated recognition on the UAA All-Academic Team.

Head Coach Trevor Miele praised McIntyre's impact both in and out of the pool.

"Kaley is exactly the kind of student-athlete that makes coaching so rewarding," he said. "Her success in the pool is something we're all proud of, but this scholarship reflects the full picture — someone who brings the same drive and commitment to everything she does. The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship is one of the most prestigious honors a college athlete can receive, and she's earned it. I couldn't be happier for her."

McIntyre's selection reflects her success both in the pool and in the classroom, solidifying her place among the top student-athletes in NYU history.
