Wrestling Competes at Ned McGinley Invitational

Geyer and Loughney Lead NYU to Ninth Place

Complete Results

The New York University wrestling team competed at the Ned McGinley Invitational, hosted by King's College, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, on Saturday, November 9.

NYU finished in ninth place overall with a total of 51.5 points. Roger Williams University won the 12-team tournament with 150 points.

Jason Geyer (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) led the way for NYU, going 5-1 in the 141-pound bracket with four pins and a technical fall en route to the third-place bout. Kade Loughney (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) also went 5-1 in the 165-pound bracket to reach the third-place match. Due to NCAA rules, neither wrestler was allowed to compete in a seventh match. Wrestlers are restricted to a maximum of six matches in a single day.

Therefore, both wrestlers placed third/fourth in their respective brackets.

"It was great to see some of these young guys gain experience," said Senior Assistant Coach Corey Luce. "We used a completely different set of wrestlers this week compared to last week. Now, we're looking forward to the tournament next week and our goal is to win it all."

NYU wrestling returns to action on Friday and Saturday, November 15-16, at the Roger Williams University Tournament in Bristol, RI.
