The New York University wrestling team took part in the Bob Quade Cyclone Open, hosted by Centenary University on Sunday, December 3, in Hackettstown, NJ.
NYU sent 11 wrestlers to the event and had five finish among the top six in their weight classes. The squad recorded 99 team points, which placed them fifth out of 39 scoring teams.
Leading the way for NYU were a trio of second-place finishers as
Raymond Jazikoff (157 pounds),
Maykel Dolorit (174 pounds) and
Jackson Kligerman (184 pounds) each reached the finals before falling to the eventual champion.
Jazikoff went 3-1 on the day and grinded out a tough semifinal victory over Sean Miller of Hunter College, 5-3. The senior captain nearly rode his opponent for the duration of the third period to clinch a spot in the championship, where he fell 14-7 to Beau Guffy of Division I Army West Point.
Dolorit earned a spot in the finals via four bonus point victories. The sophomore earned two wins by technical fall, one by fall and one by major decision before ultimately falling 13-2 in the championship to Jed Smith of Division I Army West Point.
Kligerman reached the final with three bonus point victories, earning wins via a fall, a technical fall and a major decision. The junior was defeated by technical fall in the championship bout by Jack Brown of the United States Military Academy Prep School.

Jack La Corte finished in fourth place at 197 pounds.

Dante Montanaro placed sixth.
- Jazikoff now has a team-high 15 wins this season and just two losses. The South Plainfield, NJ, native has 116 career victories, which gives him for the fourth-most in program history, one more than his former teammate and current assistant coach,
John Messinger. Jazikoff needs just two more wins to tie another assistant coach,
Gene Kobilansky, for third all-time.
NYU returns to the mat next Saturday at the Mariner Duals, hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. The grapplers will take on Nassau Community College, The College of New Jersey and Hunter College at the event.
