UAA All-Tournament TeamChristian Bloom and
CJ Picerni of the New York University baseball team were named to the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Tournament Team on Monday, March 23. The pair of Violets were honored for their play at the UAA Championship, which took place from March 8-15 in Sanford, FL.
Bloom, who saw time at both third base and left field, finished third in the Association in batting average (.455) at the event. The freshman also walked five times to help him lead the UAA in on-base percentage (.586). The Woodland Hills, CA, native was one of two freshmen to be named to the All-Tournament Team.
Picerni started all eight games of the UAA Championship at catcher. He batted .345, tallied seven RBIs and hit NYU's first home run at the varsity level in over 40 years. The Calabasas, CA, native and team captain also collected a double and a triple at the event to help give him a .552 slugging percentage which was fourth-best in the UAA.
The duo and the rest of the NYU baseball squad will be back in action on Wednesday, March 25, against SUNY Maritime. First pitch in Throggs Neck, NY, is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
