Chicago 2 NYU 1

The New York University men's soccer team was defeated by the University of Chicago 2-1 on Friday afternoon, October 31, in Chicago, IL.

The Violets (11-4-0, 2-3-0 University Athletic Association) found themselves up 1-0 early in the second half when Malcolm Montilus received a pass from co-captain Petter Aasa and broke free for the score on a breakaway in the 49th minute.

NYU held that lead until Chicago (9-5-2, 3-0-2 UAA) stormed back with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation. The Maroons were able to get two goals past the Violets, the first coming off a header in the 83rd minute, and the eventual game-winner coming with time winding down in the 89th minute.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- The score was Montilus' seventh of the season. The freshman forward now leads the Violets in goals and is tied for the team lead with fellow rookie Liam Stimpson in points (15).

- Aasa's helper was his team-leading fifth of the season.

- Lucas Doucette recorded four saves on the day.

The Violets will be back in action on Sunday morning, November 2, in St. Louis, MO, when they face off with Washington University-St. Louis at 11:00 am (CT). Live stats and live video will be available.
