Women's Basketball Wins Road Opener

Violets Roll to 73-39 Victory at Centenary

The New York University women's basketball team won its first road game of 2012-13, defeating Centenary College 73-39 on Monday, November 26, in Hackettstown, NJ.
 
The Violets (3-1) trailed 11-9 midway through the first half before taking over. NYU went on a 22-2 run late in the period, with Nicole Lem scoring six straight points to start it and Megan Dawe netting seven in a row to end it. The Violets led the Cyclones (0-5) by 14 at half and eventually went up by 34 in the second period.
 
Highlights
 
- Dawe led NYU with 17 points, going 6-9 from the field, and added five rebounds.
 
- Riley Wurtz totaled 13 points, five boards, four assists, and two steals.
 
- Cassidy Jourdan chipped in with nine points and three steals, while Lem finished with eight points and five rebounds.
 
- Lexi Bove-Domenech had six points and a game-high nine boards.
 
- As they did in their other two wins this season, the Violets won the battle on the glass. NYU outrebounded Centenary 48-35 for the game, with all 11 Violets pitching in with at least one board.

"It was a good team effort tonight," said Head Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory. "Everyone contributed and is finding their roles. We need to continue working hard to improve and come together as a team. Tonight was a step in the right direction."
 
NYU continues its five-game road swing on Thursday, November 29, when it travels to the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ. Tip-off is at 7:00 pm.
