The New York University women's volleyball team wrapped up University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Sunday, October 14, in Pittsburgh PA. In the first match of the day, NYU (13-11, 1-6) lost a hard-fought five set match to Case Western Reserve University (20-25, 16-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-11). The Violets won the first two sets, but were unable to capitalize on their early lead.

NYU saw less success in the final match of the day, as it fell to the University of Rochester in straight sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-19).  With this match starting just 30 minutes after the tough loss to Case, NYU never seemed to be fully in the contest. The Violets constantly found themselves in deficits throughout all three sets and just didn't have enough firepower to rally out of them.

NYU vs. Case Highlights-

- Kaylee Schanda had 36 digs, which is third all-time in NYU rally-scoring history.

- Alexandria Mao had a team-high 22 kills to go along with 16 digs.

- Perri Goldberg also posted a double-double with 10 kills and a career-best 26 digs.

- Hope Bogle led the team with 30 assists. Emily Moore had 18 assists and 10 digs.

NYU vs. Rochester Highlights-

- Schanda had 16 digs and a perfect 1.000 reception percentage on 27 attempts.

- Mao once again led the team with 12 kills.

- Nicole Frias had a solid game with seven kills on just 11 attempts for a .455 hitting percentage.

- Setters Bogle and Moore combined for 29 assists.

"We played average volleyball throughout the weekend," said NYU Head Coach Jolie Ward. "The UAA is too competitive for us not to be at our best, and this just shows us we need to start playing better team volleyball."

The Violets have the week off before traveling to Galloway, NJ to compete in the Richard Stockton Tri-Meet on October 13-14.
