Filiz Kipcakli scored two goals and added an assist to become the New York University women's soccer program's all-time leader in goals and points in the Violets' 10-0 victory over John Jay College on Friday afternoon, October 22, at Pier 40 in Manhattan.

Kipcakli entered the contest with 24 career goals and 58 career points. After tallying an assist on Emily Jenkinson's goal just 1:02 in, she tied both marks in the 18th minute by winning a ball in the middle and firing a shot into the top of the net.

The senior then broke both records in the 69th minute, curling a low, hard shot from 25 yards out into the bottom left corner. She now sits alone atop NYU's record books with 26 career goals and 63 career points.

“Today was very special for Filiz and I'm very happy for her,” said head coach Werner T. Dasbach. “This group keeps raising the standard for NYU soccer – not only Filiz but all of the senior class.”

The senior class accounted for the Violets' (7-7-2) first two goals of the game. After Jenkinson netted the first on Kipcakli's assist, she set up the second by playing a cross into the box that was knocked in by Jane Barrett.

Jenkinson recorded another assist on NYU's third goal, playing a short pass to Serra Tumay, who then crossed it to Natalie Beach for a header. After Kipcakli's record-tying goal, Ashley McKenzie had the Violets' final tally of the first half by tapping in a cross from Leslie Smith. The goal was the first of McKenzie's career.

Two more Violets, Mary Clair and Monica Arnold, scored their first career goals in the second half, with Clair's coming on a feed in front from McKenzie and Arnold's on a 35-yard free kick that struck the inside of the far left post and traveled in. Smith and Erin Haggerty also found the back of the net for NYU.

The Violets will be back at Pier 40 tomorrow night for their annual Alumnae Game, which begins at 8:00 pm. They return to regular season action next Friday when they travel to the University of Chicago, the squad currently alone in first place in the University Athletic Association (UAA). Game time is scheduled for 5:00 pm central standard time.
