On Tuesday, Dec. 8, New York University sophomore Kelly Dietz was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for women's diving. This is the fifth time this season Dietz has garnered the weekly award.
The latest accolade for the sophomore follows a stand-out performance at last weekend's MIT Invitational. Dietz posted a first-place and NCAA-qualifying total of 258.10 in the one-meter diving event. In the three-meter dive, she claimed second place with a score of 234.05, less than three points behind the event winner.
Dietz led the Violets to first place at the seven-team invitational. NYU finished nearly 200 points ahead of second-place MIT.
The team returns to action on Jan. 9, when the Violets compete at the Ft. Lauderdale Invitational.
