Women's Swimming & Diving Team Finishes Day One at MIT Invitational

Violets Cling to an Early Lead

Day One Results

After day one of competition at the MIT Invitational in Cambridge, MA, the New York University women's swimming & diving team has jumped out to an early lead.

NYU has seen its toughest competition from MIT. The Violets, with 291 points, hold a slim lead over  the host school, who has tallied a second-place total of 262 points.

NYU started the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:40.20). One event later, the team took control of the competition. Led by a first-place time of 5:06.27 by sophomore Molly Rippe, the Violets took five of the top six places in the 500 freestyle relay.

Freshman Tatum Gormley contributed a second-place performance in the 200 individual medley (2:11.79). NYU capped off the first day with a two-three finish in the 400 medley relay with times of 4:02.74 and 4:04.34, respectively.

On the diving board, sophomore Kelly Dietz won the one-meter event with an NCAA-qualifying score of 258.10.
