The New York University women's swimming & diving team has had its share of success this season. The Violets, undefeated (6-0) in dual-meet competition, travel to Cambridge, MA, this weekend to compete in the MIT Invitational.
NYU is coming off a 120-79 win over host Swarthmore College on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Excluding the Princeton Invitational (11/13-14) which featured three Division I programs, NYU has surged past all of its opponents this season. The Violets, however, have had this upcoming meet marked on their calendars for some time.
"MIT is one of our biggest meets of the year," said head coach Lauren Beam after the Violets topped Swarthmore. "We are looking forward to facing the competition."
Standing between NYU and a first-place finish are Brandeis University, Bowdoin College, Tufts University, Wheaton College, and Colby College, in addition to MIT.
A victory this weekend could provide NYU with momentum heading into the second half of the season. The team faces its toughest competition of the season in January, with the Ft. Lauderdale Invitational (1/9), as well as meets versus Springfield College (1/16), The College of New Jersey (1/23), and Vassar College (1/30). Springfield dealt NYU its only loss last season.
The MIT Invitational will start at 6:00pm on Friday, Dec. 4, and at 10:00am on Saturday, Dec. 5. Results of the competition will be available on goNYUathletics.com.
