Matt Huck joined New York University’s Department of Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation as Business Manager in July 2006.
He began serving as Assistant Athletic Director-Business Operations and Club Sports in November 2014, was promoted to Associate Athletic Director-Business Operations in March 2021, and was again promoted to his current position of Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations & Compliance in September 2022.
While Huck continues to oversee business operations, team travel and assist in the area of human resources for the Department, his current position includes a myriad of new responsibilities. He coordinates onboarding of new staff, the development and maintenance of the department’s policies and procedures manual, and coordinates the department’s mentoring program. Huck also serves as the Human Resource Officer for the Department, as well.
Huck served as a co-facilitator of the Athletics Branding and Marketing Working Group, leading the development and implementation of the new NYU Athletic Department marks. He oversaw the relaunch of the department website and social media channels and wrote the application for the approved Ethnic Minorities & Women Internship Grant from the NCAA which was utilized to create the position of New Media Manager for the restructured Athletic Communications area.
Recipient of the NYU's Distinguished Administrator Award in 2022 in recognition of his outstanding commitment to excellence in administration, Huck also served on the Public Health Ambassador Committee and was a co-chair of the PHA Recruitment and Selection Subcommittee during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Formerly an assistant coach of NYU’s men’s (8-1/2 seasons) and women’s (7-1/2 seasons) golf teams, Huck was on staff as the women’s first-ever varsity season was launched in 2007-08. He also helped lead the men to their first-ever University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship in 2009-10 as he, Head Coach Todd Kolean and the entire staff were selected UAA Coaching Staff of the Year.
During the 2012-13 season, the women’s squad captured the inaugural Liberty League Championship in their first year of competition within the conference. For their efforts, Huck, Kolean and assistant Brad Johnson were named the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year.
Prior to his arrival at NYU, Huck worked as the Assistant Director of Athletics/Business Affairs at Fordham University from 1999-2006. His major responsibilities included financial operation of the athletic department, ticket operations, equipment operations, and team travel. In addition, Huck oversaw six varsity athletics programs (men’s and women’s swimming & diving, men’s and women’s tennis, squash, and water polo) and assisted with the department’s major fundraising event, the Fordham Golf Classic.
While at Fordham, Huck was a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference Golf Committee from 2002-06 and served as Committee Chairman in 2005-06.
Prior to his stint at Fordham, Huck served as Communications Manager for the Metropolitan Golf Association (1996-98).
A 1994 graduate of Hobart College with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics, Huck went on to receive his Master of Arts degree in sports management from Adelphi University in 1996.
Huck resides in West Orange, NJ, with his wife Jill, daughters Gabby and Mae, and son Branson.
