Mitch Kallick has just finished his third successful season as an assistant coach with the New York University women’s volleyball program.
During his initial coaching campaign in 2003, Kallick helped head coach Ed Caesar lead the Violets to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) National Championship Final and to an overall 40-5 record. For their efforts, Kallick, fellow assistant Dominic Griffin, and Caesar were selected 2003 University Athletic Association Coaching Staff of the Year.
Last season, Kallick again helped lead the Violets to the NCAA Division III Final Four and to another 40-win season. In Kallick’s two seasons at NYU, the Violets have posted an 80-12 record, including last season’s 40-7 finish.
Kallick, who graduated from NYU’s College of Arts & Science in 2002 with a bachelor of arts degree in history, was a four-year member of the Violets’ men’s volleyball team. A four-time EIVA (Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) All-Star, Kallick still holds team records for career kills (1,925), career total blocks (513), and career block assists (399).
Kallick served as team captain during his senior campaign and accumulated many honors during his playing career. He was NYU’s Freshman Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 1999, as well as a Volleyball Magazine Division III All-American. Kallick was twice named AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches’ Association) Player of the Week, and was a member of two EIVA Division III Championship teams.
Kallick, who played professionally for the Clube Desportivo de Povoa in Portugal, has also accumulated experience as an assistant coach at Green Valley High School in Henderson, Nevada, and as a coach at the Gator Volleyball Camp.
A native of Henderson, Kallick currently resides in Manhattan, NY.
