NYU Athletics

The 2004 season was Darren Baptiste’s first year as an assistant coach with the New York University women’s volleyball team. Baptiste helped lead the Violets to a second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Final Four, as well as to a 40-7 overall record.

No stranger to NYU, Baptiste has worked in the Equipment Room at the Coles Sports Center since 1996, serving as Weekend Supervisor since 2002.

A 2000 graduate of NYU’s Steinhardt School of Education with a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Baptiste also worked as a volunteer practice assistant with the Violets’ men’s volleyball teams for five years.

Baptiste, who continues to play in recreational volleyball leagues around New York City, is a native of London, England. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
