Responsible for training sessions and physical conditioning since joining the staff in 2006, Gregory Vicenty is in his sixth season as an assistant coach with the New York University men’s soccer team.

Abiding by Vicenty’s motto of “Fit to Fight,” NYU’s improved endurance has been instrumental in the program going 52-29-14 (.621) and earning three berths to the NCAA Division III Championship – including a run to the Final Four in 2006 – since his arrival.

Last season, Vicenty’s training regimen helped NYU soar to new heights. The Violets went 11-3-4 overall and 4-0-3 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), claiming their first-ever UAA Championship. The squad climbed to as high as #20 in the national rankings, earned the right to host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III Championship and broke several school and UAA records on defense.

For its efforts, NYU earned UAA Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

A former Infantry Staff Sergeant in Fort Bragg, NC, Vicenty was with the United States Army for 17 years. He has an extensive background in boxing as a member of the United States Army Boxing Team for nine years and a two-time Golden Gloves Champion, winning in 1978 and 1979.

Currently, Vicenty also works as a personal trainer. He provides private soccer instruction in strength conditioning and endurance while also offering weight and diet consultations. Additionally, Vicenty provides training at the Mendez Boxing Gym for amateur and professional members. He also acts as a second corner man at various professional boxing events in both New York and Washington, D.C.

A New York City native, Vicenty resides in the Bronx.
