The New York University men's and women's track and field teams closed out the first weekend of May with a pair of competitions in Queens and New Jersey.
Split squads competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, and the Tom Farrell Classic, hosted by St. John's University.
At the Larry Ellis Invitational,
Katharine Frank opened the day with a top-20 finish in the women's 1500m race. The sophomore finished in 4:38.46.
In the men's 1500m race,
Alex Hrycyszyn came home 13th in 3:53.92.
Rookie
Alexa McMillian tied for 15th in the Women's Triple Jump with an 11.50m best mark in her first time qualifying for the meet.
James Thompson led his heat in the men's 100-meter competition, clocking in at 11.03 for a 27th overall finish.
Back in the five boroughs, the remainder of the team in action was at St. John's University's DaSilva Memorial Field and Track.
Seven Violet men competed in the men's 1500m run, led by
William Cornick (4:00.88) in first place.
Trey Davidson (4:02.62) and
Micah Taffet (4:04.05) rounded out the top three.
Five women were in action in the event, led by NYU's
Rina Kurihara (4:45.00).
Rachel Newman (4:55.68) took third, and
Eliza Dickie rounded out the top five in 5:04.25.
Audrey Adam logged a top-five finish of her own in the 800m run, finishing in 2:22.81.
In the field competitions,
Drew Boyce pulled double jumper duty. Boyce took third (11.97m) in the triple jump and sixth (6.03m) in the long jump.
The Violets return to competition during the second weekend of May. NYU heads to the Farley Inter Regional, hosted by Williams College, May 8-9, in Massachusetts, before closing out the regular season at the Widener Final Qualifier in Pennsylvania, on Monday, May 11.
