Club Sports End of Year Wrap up

NYU Club Sports concluded a successful 2024-2025 season with another high in club participation with 1,959 active student participants. The program saw strong engagement across the current 27 active clubs, with notably, 11 of these clubs achieving national tournament qualification. Furthermore, NYU Club Sports demonstrated a growing commitment to community engagement, contributing over 95 hours of community service throughout the year.

Badminton
The team qualified and participated in the Division 1 National Collegiate Team Badminton Championships tournament. 

Competitive Cheer
Competed in the National Cheer Alliance national tournament in Daytona Beach, FL where the team competed in the Intermediate Small Coed Division III and finished in 7th place. 

Spirit Cheer
Participated in 35 events this year, including 13 WBB games, 8 MBB games, Alumni Family Weekend, Children's Halloween Parade, Manhattan Alzheimer's Walk, NYU Toy Drive, Strawberry Fest, Grad Alley, and Commencement. 

Climbing
Climbing saw a total number of members jump to 290. The competitive team within the club attended a Collegiate National Qualifier tournament, where 6 team members placed high enough to earn a bid for Nationals in Salt Lake City. 

Cycling
Men's cycling saw another successful season, with several members having impressive tournament finishes, culminating in a podium finish in the Tour of Hope Circuit Race in Hope, NJ.

Dance
Competed in the National Dance Alliance national tournament in Daytona Beach, FL where the team competed in the pom and jazz categories. The team went to the finals in both numbers and brought home 3rd place. 

Equestrian
The team finished third overall in the region. It competed in the Regional tournament and had a rider advance to Zones. Four riders placed in regionals, with one bringing home second place. 

Figure Skating
The team competed in the Intercollegiate Figure Skating Final national competition, finishing in third place. Individually, the team brought home 13 medals, including six gold medals. 

Flag Football
The team competed in the NIRSA Regional tournament for the second year in a row and had 49 members in the club participate in practices and scrimmages during the Fall semester. 

Ice Hockey
NYU Hockey entered its inaugural season in the ECHA this year and finished with a 4-12 record in conference play. The team finished as the #8 seed and beat #9 Towson in the play-in game to reach the quarter-finals of the ECHA playoffs.
 
Judo
The Judo Club had over 100 students on its roster for the second straight year. The club participated in 4 collegiate tournaments this year, as well as attending the Japan Day Parade and NYU Culture Day, where Consul Anna Dan from the Consulate General of Japan in New York attended the event as a guest of the Judo Club.

Karate
The Karate Club had 71 active members this year, and many members were promoted to a higher rank during the club's belt test this Spring.

Kendo
The team hosted their first tournament in program history, with NYU A team taking home first place and the NYU C team getting third. Four members of the team placed individually in their respective single brackets. 

Women's Lacrosse
Women's Lacrosse qualified for the national championship tournament in Round Rock, Texas, for the first time in the club's history. The team finished the season with a 6-3 conference record. 

Men's Lacrosse
The Men's Lacrosse team started their NCLL D2 season ranked for the first time in program history. The team ended the season with a 4-6 conference record. 

Latin and Ballroom Dance
Competed in their first tournament since 2019. Two of our team members placed in the finals of international rumba and waltz, while another made it to the finals in American tango.

Running
The team participated in 13 races throughout the season and had 454 registrants across those races. The season ended on a positive note with the club winning the Campus Recreation Club of the Year award. 

Women's Soccer
Women's soccer had an impressive season, where the team qualified as the #2 seed for the NIRSA regional championship tournament. The team finished the season with an overall record of 10-3. 

Sport Taekwondo
The team qualified for NCTA Nationals in Marlborough, MA, where four members of NYU Sport Taekwondo were able to take home three gold medals.

Men's Squash
Participated in the Nationals tournament in Philadelphia. 

Women's Squash
Participated in the Nationals tournament in Philadelphia. 

Table Tennis
NYU Table Tennis competed at the NCTTA National Tournament. The coed team won the bronze medal, the women's team won 4th place, the women's doubles won a bronze medal, and the men's doubles won a bronze medal. Also, two team members made the US Women's WUG team for the World University Games in Germany this summer.

Men's Ultimate
The men's ultimate team enjoyed a highly successful season, culminating in a decisive 6-0 tournament victory. Building on this momentum, the team also qualified for the men's ultimate regional playoff.

Women's and Non-Binary Ultimate
The club qualified for the regional collegiate ultimate tournament this year, where the team finished with a tournament record of 4-3 with wins over Syracuse, Rutgers (twice), and Columbia.

Men's Water Polo
Men's Water Polo had a successful season, with the highlight of the season going 2-2 at a tournament hosted by RPI, where NYU went 2-2 with wins over RPI and Syracuse. 

Women's Water Polo
Qualified and participated in the 2025 CWPA New York Division Championships, where the team qualified as the second overall seed.
