Five members of the New York University men's and women's fencing teams have received postseason honors from the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA).
These accolades follow a season in which the two teams combined to finish 21st at the NCAA Championships.
Freshman
Anup Banerjee earned two honors. He was named both Men's National Collegiate and NCAA Division III Foil Newcomer of the Year.
Fellow Violet freshmen
Ajit Sivakumar and
Ansh Ghayalod were named Division III Epee Newcomer of the Year and Division III Saber Newcomer of the Year, respectively.
On the women's side, freshman
Katherine Chen was tabbed Division III Epee Athlete of the Year and graduate student
Maria Stamos was selected Division III Foil Athlete of the Year.
"These awards highlight not only the incredible talent of these athletes, but also their dedication and hard work throughout the season," said Head Coach
Ben Bratton. "I am so proud of each of them for their achievements and for representing NYU with excellence."
