The New York University men's and women's track & field teams traveled to Medford, MA, to compete in the Tufts University Qualifying Meet on Saturday, March 8.
Evan Sherman won the men's 5,000-meter run and achieved a new personal best, crossing the line in 14:35.41.
In the women's 5,000-meter run, the Violets secured the second through fourth spots with each earning a new personal best: Josephine Dziedzic placed second in 17:13.31, Lucy Gott followed in third with a time of 17:18.03, and Katherine Cochran finished fourth in 17:26.17.
University Athletic Association (UAA) champion Alex Hrycysyzn took third in the mile and set a new personal best with a time of 4:13.05.
Dasha Jackson finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles final, crossing the line in 9.28 to best her previous best of 9:34.
Nishad Sankar recorded a 13.32m mark in the triple jump, securing sixth place.
All four competitors in the 3,000-meter run achieved new personal bests.
In the men's section, Liam Hagerty (8:25.73) finished sixth, while Jeffrey Chen (8:30.23) placed eighth. On the women's side, Katherine Cheng (10:07.76) finished eighth, and Daniela Sekhar (10:14.87) took tenth.
Oliver Fideler placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 6.40m.
The Violets will compete in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships next Friday, March 8, in Rochester, NY. Event qualifiers will be announced next week.
