A pair of New York University basketball players have earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors for their performances in a pair of victories on Saturday.
Senior
Caroline Peper of the NYU women's team and graduate student
Luke Kolaja of the men's squad are the Violet honorees.
Peper recorded her first career double-double in the Violets' 90-48 win over Brooklyn College on Saturday. She scored a game-high 25 points, while adding career highs of 10 rebounds and seven assists. Peper also had three steals as NYU won its 70th-straight contest, the second-longest winning streak in NCAA Division III women's basketball history.
The South Easton, MA, native currently leads the 8-0 Violets in scoring (23.6).
Kolaja came off the bench and was near-perfect from the field in NYU's 95-83 over Lancaster Bible College, also on Saturday. In only 21 minutes, he scored 18 points, converting on 7-of-8 from the field, including success on his only three-point attempt.
The Montclair, NJ, native grabbed a game-high eight rebounds while adding three assists and a block for the 8-1 Violets.
Both teams get a short break before returning to the court.
The women compete at the Montreal Winter Tournament in Montreal, Canada, on December 29-30, while the men host John Jay College at the John A. Paulson Center on the 30th.
