Trio of Violets Earn Weekly Honors

Student-Athletes Recognized by UAA and Liberty League

A trio of New York University student-athletes have earned weekly conference accolades.

Ava Launsbach of the women's volleyball team and Ashlyn Pallotta of the women's cross country team were both honored as University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week, while Qi Liu was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week.

Launsbach played in two of the Violets' three matches on the weekend and totaled 40 assists and 21 digs. Against William Smith College, a team receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, the senior captain tallied 22 assists, eight digs and an ace. She then posted a double-double with 18 assists and 13 digs along with another ace against Manhattanville College.

Pallotta was NYU's top finisher in the 6K White Race of the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on Friday. She ran a career-best 20:45.7 and finished fourth in a field comprised of 404 runners. Her performance helped lead the Violets to a first-place finish in a field of 45 teams.

At the RPI College Invitational, Liu led NYU with a second-place finish. He finished with a score of +3 through two rounds, which was just one stroke behind the first-place finisher.
