Grace Richardson of New York University's women's cross country and track and field teams and
Zach Knudsen of the men's volleyball team were both named Academic All-America by College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA).
Both Violets were Second Team honorees after their strong performances in both the classroom and in competition this past year. Richardson and Knudsen qualified for Academic All-America selection by each having a cumulative GPA higher than 3.50 and playing key roles in historic seasons for their respective teams.
Richardson was the 2023 University Athletic Association (UAA) women's cross country champion as she led NYU to its first UAA title in program history, also finishing as a cross country All-American while the Violets finished as National Runners-Up. She was also the UAA Indoor 3k champion, National Runner-Up in the Indoor 5k, First Team All-America in the Indoor 3k, and the Niagara Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
During the outdoor season, Richardson was the National Runner-Up in the 10k and First Team All-America in the 5k. She also earned UAA Fall and Winter All-Academic honors and USTFCCCA (United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) All-Academic for both cross country and track.
Knudsen was the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year and Second Team All-UVC, helping lead NYU to its second-ever UVC title and first-ever trip to the NCAA Final Four.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) also awarded Knudsen with All-Region II and Honorable Mention All-America honors. He averaged 2.48 digs per set on the season which helped limit the Violets' opponents to a .202 hitting percentage in 2024.
Richardson and Knudsen's selections bring NYU's total to seven Academic All-Americans during the 2023-24 season.
