New York University's women's track & field team competed in the Metropolitan Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Ichan Stadium on Randall's Island in Mahattan on Saturday, April 6.
The Violets compiled 35 points to take eighth in the 15-team competition.
Areyanna McCarthy earned third place with her 1.53m-mark in the high jump.
Emma Grunin recorded 37.06m to take third in the javelin throw. She also posted an eighth-place finish in the discuss throw with a 31.95m mark.
Dasha Jackson leaped 10.68m to place third in the triple jump, while McCarthy marked 10.63m to take fourth in the event.
Kate Walsh took fourth in the long jump, marking 4.84m. She also clocked 13.40 in the 100-meter dash to take eighth in the finals.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Mackenzie Richards also recorded an eighth-place finish with a time of 1:10.15.
The Violets' 4x400-meter relay team consisting of McCarthy,
Laila Goodman,
Cindy Leonard, and
Beverly Okyere finished fifth with a time of 4:11.47.
The Violets are back in action next Friday, April 12, when the team splits competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, NJ, and the Connecticut College Invitational in New London, CT.
