Grace Richardson and Katherine Cochran of the New York University women's track & field team traveled to Raleigh, NC, to compete in the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University on Friday, March 29.

Richardson, who broke indoor program records in the mile, 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs this past winter, toppled the decade-old 10,000-meter outdoor record with her 34:06.21 finish in the event tonight, surpassing Kristin Keller's record of 35:13.21 set back in 2013.

Cochran, in her first 10k as a Violet, recorded a 14th-place finish in her heat posting a time of 35:49.65.

Members of the Violets will be back in action tomorrow for day two of the Monmouth Season Opener with competition beginning at 11:00 AM, while others will be traveling to Princeton, NJ, to compete in the Sam Howell Invite Opener. Competition in Princeton is set to begin at 10:00 AM.
