Members of New York University's men's and women's diving teams competed in the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Go Red Diving Invitational on Sunday, December 8, in Troy, NY.
For the men's team, senior William Hopkins posted a score of 513.10 points in the 3-meter dive, while freshman Nolan Jennings scored 451.85 points, earning a regional qualifying score in the process.
The NYU duo placed second and third in the event, respectively.
The Violets swept the top four sports in the women's 1-meter dive.
Sophomore Maya Williams led the charge with a score of 472.05 points, followed by freshman Katherine Taylor with 468.45 points. Junior Isabella Reyes took third with 465.10 points, while junior Meera Kasturi rounded out the top-four places with a score of 449.65 points.
"Great day for NYU Diving," said Head Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "Our four women placed in the top 4 against some tough competition, and our men had a very close meet. William Hopkins narrowly got beat out, but he had some tough dives in there. Nolan Jennings made his regional qualifying score, so we're very happy about that. All-in-all, it was a great weekend."
The divers will be back in action when they host a dive-only competition on Saturday, January 11, at the Palladium Athletic Facility Natatorium in Manhattan.
