The New York University women's swimming and diving team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, December 7, defeating #13 nationally ranked Johns Hopkins University (JHU) by a decisive 182-79 score.
Ranked #4 in the nation, the Violets won 15 of the 16 events, demonstrating their dominance across the board.
Senior Caitlin Marshall led the charge, claiming victories in both the 1000-yard freestyle (10:17.89) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.07), while sophomore Kaley McIntyre triumphed in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.56) and the 50-yard freestyle (23.24).
Junior Nicole Ranile secured a win in the 100-yard backstroke (56.61) and senior Anna Li took the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.97).
"The women just dominated today from start to finish," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "It was an overwhelming performance, and it's amazing to see them swim so well at this time of the year."
In diving, sophomore Maya Williams delivered top scores of 293.80 points in the 3-meter dive and 291.10 points in the 1-meter dive. Junior Meera Kasturi earned 276.35 points in the 3-meter dive and 266.40 points in the 1-meter dive.
"It was a good day, especially on the women's side," praised Head Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "Maya Williams and Meera Kasturi were outstanding, putting together the best meet of the year leading into the break."
The NYU women's diving team will next compete tomorrow in a diving-only competition at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
