Violets Dominate NYU Fall Invitational

The New York University women's swimming and diving team put on an outstanding performance on the second day of competition at the Palladium Athletic Facility.

After an impressive two days of competition, the #3-ranked Violets emerged victorious, claiming first place overall with a total of 565 points. They outpaced Stevens Institute of Technology, which finished with 237 points, and Drew University, which followed closely with 219 points.

NYU's divers impressed on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

Maya Williams led the team by finishing second on the 1-meter board with an impressive score of 264.40. Isabella Reyes secured fifth place with a score of 252.60. Meera Kasturi followed closely in sixth with a score of 251.20. Issara Schmidt placed seventh (243.15) and Katherine Taylor finished eighth (236.65).

"It was a pretty good day," said Head Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "Maya Williams had a great meet on the 1-meter, finishing second. It was a strong day for our new divers like Katherine Taylor and Isabella Reyes, who competed with new dives for the first time."

NYU's women's swimmers dominated across events, showcasing their training and talent.

Daria Chtokolov won the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:24.59, while Calista Lynch claimed first-place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.08) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:33.23).

Nicole Ranile added to the team's success, winning the 100-yard backstroke (57.36) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.1). Meanwhile, Kaley McIntyre had commanding wins in both sprint freestyle events, taking the 100-yard freestyle (51.8) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.06).

"Our women's team absolutely dominated this weekend! They've been putting in the work, and showed an overwhelming performance from start to finish," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We still have a few more weeks of hard work ahead of us, but we're definitely on track for some exciting swims at the Phoenix Invitational."

Next up, NYU will compete in the Phoenix Invitational at the University of Chicago from November 22-24.
