On Friday, the New York University
tenth-ranked women's swimming team added a fourth program record to their University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships resumé in Atlanta, GA.
With 1,018 points, the women are third behind second-ranked Emory University (1,243) and fifth-ranked University of Chicago (1,094).
Slamming the wall in a career-best 1:48.78,
Kaley McIntyre won the 200 freestyle to chop over 1.5 seconds off Honore Collins's 2018-19 record of 1:50.39. Her time is the current fastest in NCAA Division III.
"Kaley's 200 freestyle was very impressive," Head Coach
Trevor Miele said. "She dominated it from the start and kept building her lead throughout the swim."
Candice Saxod placed second in the 400 individual medley to couple her second-place finish in the 200 individual medley on
Thursday. Clocking 4:25.68, she demolished her previous personal best by nearly five seconds to finish within a second after first-place Savannah Xu of #11 Carnegie Mellon University.
"Candice had a fantastic race," Miele commented. "She swam well and just nearly missed running down the swimmer who won."
Jessica Flynn and
Emily Ma delivered a pair of season bests in the 100 backstroke, finishing second (55.04) and sixth (56.79), respectively.
The 200 medley A relay team took second in 1:44.51 behind Emory (1:40.29).
McIntyre, Saxod, Flynn and Ma all made NCAA qualification cuts.
Prelims for the final day of UAA competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11. The women's diving team will return to the water for the one-meter after a historic three-meter program performance on
Thursday.
