New York University's
14th-ranked wrestling team hosted the NYU Duals on Saturday and won all three matches at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
The Violets, competing in their first duals of the 2023-24 season, won 40-10 against Rhode Island College, 34-12 versus Western New England University and 38-6 over Roger Williams University.
"Overall, we are pleased," said Associate Head Coach
Corey Luce. "We won three duals today pretty handily. Of course with high expectations this season we need to go back and correct some things, but we are moving in the right direction."
RIC picked up a major decision victory at 125 for an early lead, but
Taisei Kurachi got NYU on the board at 133 with a 15-0 tech fall to put the Violets ahead 5-4. It was all NYU from there as

The Violets forfeited 197 throughout the day without impacting the team's success.

Against Western New England, it was again Kurachi who gave NYU its first points with another 15-0 tech fall for a 5-3 advantage.
Nick Kruczynski stepped up at 141 this time and battled for a 14-10 triumph before
Vincenzo Napolitana secured a 17-2 tech fall at 149.

NYU won all nine contested bouts against Roger Williams, only surrendering points via forfeit at 197.
Benny Bautista notched a 19-3 tech fall at 125, Kurachi moved to 3-0 on the day with a 5-1 decision at 133, Kruczynski kept it going with a 9-1 major decision at 141, Napolitana secured an impressive 22-second pin at 149, Pontelandolfo took an 18-2 tech fall at 157, Khan followed with a 19-0 tech fall at 165, Geyer won 8-3 at 174,
