Tanya Slimp Added to Softball Coaching Staff

Will Serve as Assistant

Tanya Slimp has been added as an assistant coach of the New York University Softball Team. She will primarily work with the catchers, while also assisting with the infielders and hitters. 
 
Slimp, who will coach first base, will help with practice planning and opponent scouting reports while also being responsible for game-day management and planning. 
 
"We are very fortunate to be able to add Tanya to the coaching staff," said Head Coach Now-Allah James. "She brings passion, lots of knowledge and experience, and will be a tremendous asset to our catchers, team and coaching staff."
 
Slimp who attended Washington State University with a concentration in Athletic Medicine, played 10 years of competitive fast pitch softball in Western Washington.
 
A member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) since 2018, Slimp has over 20 years of experience (playing/coaching/college scout). She coached high school ball for six years, travel ball for seven years (currently with the Breakers Labs Organization out of Vista, CA), and has been a College Softball Scout for National Scouting Report (NSR) for over six years, primarily recruiting talent in the Western Region of the United States and Canada.
 
"I have followed this program for the last several years and I am extremely excited to get the opportunity to join the NYU Softball family," Slimp revealed. "This is a very talented group of women with a ton of potential. I am looking forward to helping guide this group to a highly successful season. Go Violets!"
 
Slimp, who has worked as a sport specific trainer since 2012, is a native of Stockton, CA.
