Softball Hosts UAA Doubleheader

Violets Face Emory on Senior Day

The Nrew York University softball team hosted the Emory University Eagles in a University Athletic Associatioin (UAA) doubleheader on Friday, April 24, at Bahoshy Field in the Bronx, NY.

Emory won the first game 13-0 and the nitecap 5-1.

Prior to the opener, NYU celebrated Senior Day as Chloe Stone and Jessie Werthman were honored in pregame ceremonies.

The Violets did not manage a hit in the first game, as the Eagles' Sydney Thune went the distance. NYU's only baserunners in the game were Siena Kiefer, who drew a walk, and Naya Schubel and Victoria Negron, who were each hit by a pitch.

The second game was more competitive, as Keira D'Errico's fielder's choice in the second inning pulled NYU within 2-1.

The Eagles went on to score two more runs in the fourth and one in the seventh for the final margin.

Katie Antosiewicz pitched all seven innings for the Violets, and Schubel had two of NYU's five hits.

The teams are scheduled to complete the three-game series back at Bahoshy Field at 7:00pm on Saturday.
