The New York University softball team closed out its season with a doubleheader against University of Chicago on Saturday, May 2, in Chicago, IL.
The Violets opened the afternoon with a 9-7 win in game one before falling in game two, 11-3.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Chicago scored a run in the bottom of the first inning but the Violets came back to score seven unanswered in the next three innings to take the lead.
In the third inning, NYU brought in three runs on home runs from Emily Barbire and Alyssa Quary. One inning later, Naya Schubel homered to left field to bring in another run for the Violets. Emma Sung homered to center field in the sixth to bring in two runs.
Chicago got two runs back to cut the deficit to two but the Violets held onto the lead.
In game two, Schubel singled to center to bring in a run from Nicole Cicchetti before rounding her own way to home.
Sung reached him on a fielders choice from Query to give them a 3-0 advantage.
In the bottom of the second, Chicago pulled ahead, scoring four runs. They added one in the fourth and five in the bottom of the fifth to take the game.
The Violets end their season 8-31.
