NYU Swimming & Diving Teams Make the Grade

Both Men and Women are Selected CSCAA Scholar All-America

New York University's men's and women's swimming & diving teams were unable to compete in the pool during the 2020-21 season due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, that did not keep the team's student-athletes from being successful on dry land.

Both teams have received Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

Selections were made on the basis of each team's Spring grade point averages (a cumulative 3.30 or better) and represent 17,982 student-athletes. The Scholar All-America team includes 721 teams from 424 institutions (the entire list can be accessed here).

"Coach Miele once again showed that success in the pool and classroom go hand in hand," noted CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart. "These are some of the best ambassadors of NYU, and Athletic Director Robinson, President Hamilton, and Dr. Dennis Geronimus (Faculty Athletic Representative) can and should be proud of these 67 men & women."

In addition to this CSCAA honor, a total of 32 Violets (16 men, 16 women) also received University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Academic honors in '20-21. That list, which includes ALL of NYU's winter sports teams' honorees, can be found here)

"Obviously, it was a tough year mentally and physically, but it's fantastic to see them do so well academically," Miele said. "They really stayed focused and I'm very proud of them!"
