2021-22 SAAC Eboard Elected

SAAC

2021-22 SAAC Board Selected

Ahmed, Choi to Serve as Co-Presidents

New York University's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has announced its Executive Board for the 2021-22 academic year. SAAC is a student led group where students can connect with students. They find ways to support members within their own community, as well as to positively impact the larger community around them.

This newly-elected group of leaders understands the importance of their voice, and they will continue to build on the important initiatives that they have started over the past year. They have ambitious goals of bringing the community together as we emerge from the other side of this pandemic, and are also focused on finding ways to best prepare and position student-athletes for their lives beyond graduation.

Imaal Ahmed (Sugar Land, TX/Clements)  and Rebecca Choi (Newtown Square, PA/Great Valley) will share the title of Co-President and be joined by four Vice Presidents -- Caitlin Fong (San Marino, CA/Flintridge Preparatory School), Lauren Gast (St. Louis, MO/Villa Duchesne), Jacob Haines (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape), and Haley Holz (Palatine, IL /Palatine)

Ahmed and Choi, both rising seniors, are members of the women's swimming and diving team. Fong will be entering her junior season on the women's soccer squad, while Gast, who is a rising senior and served as a Co-President in 2020-21, is a member of the women's basketball team.

Holz, a rising junior on the women's volleyball team, and Jacob Haines (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape), a rising senior on the men's swimming and diving team, are first-time SAAC Executive board members.

"Outgoing SAAC E-Board members Will Ortman (Hopewell Valley, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central) and Peyton Lucas (Keller, TX/Keller) have both made tremendous contributions to the leadership of SAAC," said Nikki Webb, NYU Assistant Athletic Director/Student Athlete Health & Wellness. "Their efforts during a very difficult year have not gone unnoticed. While their senior year may not at all have been what they envisioned, they both made the most of an extremely difficult situation and found ways to make an impact. A huge thanks to both Peyton and Will as they move on to exciting new chapters in their lives."

Each Vice President will chair a sub-committee:
Community Service & Outreach

Violet Cup
Student-Athlete Spirit
