Violet Pair Earn AVCA All-America Honors

Volleyball Seniors Ferraro and Lindley Recognized

AVCA Release

Senior captains Neil Ferraro (Newton, MA/Xaverian Brothers) and Evan Lindley (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) of the New York University men's volleyball team have received All-America honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), it was announced on Monday, April 20.

Ferraro received First Team honors while Lindley earned Second Team accolades.

Both were named AVCA All-North Region.

Ferraro, a middle blocker and opposite hitter, led the team in blocks and was second to Lindley in both points (173.7) and kills (130). Also a Second Team All-UVC (United Volleyball Conference) selection this season, Ferraro is receiving AVCA national honors for the third time. He was selected First Team All-American in 2018 and Second Team All-American in 2019.

Lindley, right side, led the Violets in a number of categories in 2020, including points (184.5), kills (144) and service aces (26). His senior year also included First Team All-UVC honors.

"I want to congratulate Neil and Evan for the honor of being named AVCA All-Americans," said Head Coach Jose Pina. "This is the third time they have been honored this year as part of the top performers in their conference, their region and now the nation. It is a testament to their hard work, their success and how they are viewed by the coaches around the nation."

The NYU pair helped lead the Violets to the #1 national ranking during the season and to a 13-3 overall record, including wins over then-#1 Springfield College (February 22) and then-#3 Stevens Institute of Technology (February 26) in back-to-back contests..

Over their four years together, the Violets posted an overall 60-33 record, including the program's first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 2017.

"Evan and Neil have been tremendous representatives of what NYU Athletics stands for and have represented our university and program in an exemplary manner on the court and in the classroom throughout their careers," Pina added.
