Senior Neil Ferraro (Newton, MA/Xaverian Brothers) was named United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Player of the Week on Monday, January 20, and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Player of the Week on Tuesday, January 21, after helping lead the Violets to three victories over the weekend.

NYU, which is currently ranked #8 by the AVCA, began its 2020 season at the Cal State Lutheran Invitational in Thousand Oaks, CA, and Ferraro's three outstanding performances helped lead the team to wins in each one.

On Friday, in a straight-set victory over Fontbonne University, Ferraro recorded 11 kills and a .368 hitting percentage. Then, in Saturday's three-set win over host Cal Lutheran, he again recorded 11 kills, this time with a .600 hitting percentage. Finally, in the Violets' five-set victory over then-#8 University of California, Santa Cruz on Sunday, Ferraro totaled 13 kills and a .500 percentage.

Over the three matches, Ferraro also totaled 15 blocks, five digs and a service ace. 

The Violets are back in action this Thursday, January 23, when they travel to Glenside, PA, for a match against Arcadia University. First serve is set for 7:00pm
