UVC Season Preview
The New York University men's volleyball team has received national attention as it gets set to embark on the 2020 season.
The Violets are ranked #13 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Pre-Season Poll and #2 in the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Pre-Season Coaches Poll.
UVC-rival SUNY New Paltz is top-ranked in both polls.
Last season, NYU went 13-11 overall and 6-3 in UVC play, finishing fourth in the conference.
NYU retains much of the talent from last season's squad. The top four leaders in kills on the team -
Evan Lindley (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) (255),
Alex Li (Cupertino, CA/Monta Vista) (246),
Neil Ferraro (Newton, MA/Xaverian Brothers) (194), and
Tyler Flood (Corona del Mar, CA/Corona del Mar) (147) - are all returning. Senior
Matin Bikdeli (Irvine, CA/University) also returns after leading the Violets with 743 assists in 2019.
Lindley and Ferraro will serve as team captains.
The Violets open their season on the west coast on Friday, January 17, when they face off against Fontbonne University in Thousand Oaks, CA.
