The New York University men's volleyball team has earned a trip to the Division III NCAA Tournament for a third year in a row.
The Violets are set to take on United Volleyball Conference (UVC) foe SUNY New Paltz on Friday, April 17, in Springfield, MA, at a time to be determined.
"It's an honor to make it to the NCAA Tournament for a third straight year," said Head Coach
Jose Pina. "This is a great achievement for both the program and the guys on the team."
The
#9-ranked Violets finished the regular season with a 19-6 record and reached the UVC Semifinals. Amongst their wins are victories over New Jersey City Univerity, Stevens Institute of Technology, and California Lutheran University, all whom also claimed a bid in the tournament.
"New Paltz is definitely a tough first round game, but I think it's a chance for revenge," said junior right side hitter
Emerson Evans. "It hurt us losing to them at home, so I'm excited for a second opportunity against them."
NYU previously matched up against the Hawks in late March of this year and fell in four sets.
Additionally, the Violets collected more accolades with four Region 2 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) selections.
Evans,
Charlie Clifford,
Devyn Nguyen, and
Bennet Tchaikovsky all earned the All-Region nod, while Evans was named the Region 2 Player of the Year and Clifford was named the Region 2 Rookie of the Year.
