Patrick Dietz, who has served in a part-time capacity for the New York University Men's Volleyball team since October 2021, has been elevated to full-time Assistant Coach heading into the 2027 season.
"This is something that we've been working on for a while, and now it is great to be able to get Patrick in this role. This allows us to have more time with the players and to progress the program in the right direction," said Head Coach
Jose Pina. "We'll be able to do so much more for the program as far as recruiting and training with the guys, doing more one-on-one sessions that I was unable to do when I was here by myself. But, now with two people here full time, you're just going to make it easier to manage and make the program more effective."
Dietz has already been part of a successful NYU program. During his five years on staff, the Violets have made three NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearances, including a run to the Final Four in 2024, and posted an 87-36 overall record. That includes a run to the Elite Eight and a near-perfect 26-1 record in 2025.
"Being able to coach volleyball at the toughest level of Division III has been a life goal fulfilled," Dietz said. "This enables me to be able to have more time with Coach Pina in a one-on-one situation and gives us a better chance to create the next great NCAA Champion."
Prior to joining NYU, Dietz began his coaching career as the Head Men's Volleyball Coach at the College of Mount Saint Vincent from 2002-05. While there, he also served as the Interim Head Coach of the Bloomfield College women's team in the fall of 2004. He became the head coach of both the men's and women's volleyball teams at the New York City College of Technology from 2005-07. He then took over as Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Concordia College in Bronxville, NY, from 2009-11, before returning as the men's coach at Mount Saint Vincent for two seasons.
In the fall of 2015, Dietz served as the assistant coach of the women's volleyball team at NCAA Division I St. Francis College-Brooklyn, then took a position as Head Men's Volleyball Coach at St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn during the 2015-16 season.
Dietz, who attended the New York City College of Technology as an undergraduate, is a native of New York City and resides in Far Rockaway, NY.
