After dropping a doubleheader on Sunday, the Violets got back into the win column with a 7-5 victory over Oswego State on Monday, March 18, in Plant City, FL.
Playing the first of two games on Monday, the Violets (3-2) rallied from a 5-0 deficit to overtake the Lakers (0-3).
Trailing 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Violets erupted for six runs to take the lead. The rally began with a triple by
Lauren Kong and ended with her two-run single as 11 batters came to the plate. Another big blow in the inning was a two-run single by
Ashley Mains.
NYU scored another unearned run in the sixth.
Scarlett Murphy, who relieved starter
Karissa Zubulake in the fourth inning, pitched 3.1 innings without giving up a hit to earn the victory.
The Violets are right back at it on Monday afternoon with a contest against Messiah College, also in Plant City.
