The New York University men's fencing team dropped won two of its final three dual meets of the season, falling to host Columbia University 16-11 before posting victories over Sacred Heart University (23-4) and Vassar College (20-7) on Wednesday, February 13, in Manhattan.
The Violets finished the dual-meet season with a 13-12 record.
In the first match against host Columbia, NYU won the sabre competition, defeating the Lions 5-4 behind
Mickey Bak's perfect 3-0 record.
Bryan Moise and
Zachary Schindler produced the other wins for the Violets.
The visitors were defeated in foil and epee by identical 6-3 scores.
Zohaib Mannan produced two of the foil wins while
Liam Carpenter did the same in epee.
The Violets were victorious in all three weapons against both Sacred Heart and Vassar, with Schindler going a perfect 6-0 vs. those opponents.
Though the dual-meet season is over, the 2018-19 season continues when the Violets compete at the NCAA Regional Championship on Sunday, March 10, at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
