The New York University men's swimming & diving team suffered its first loss of the 2016-17 season, falling to The College of New Jersey 151-143 in Ewing, NJ, on Saturday, November 19.
The Violets are now 2-1 in dual meets this season, while the Lions are now 4-0.
"The meet came down to the last relay and TCNJ beat us," explained Head Coach
Trevor Miele.
In that final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Lions took first place and secured 11 points to clinch the victory.
Overall, TCNJ won nine events and NYU took seven.
Connor Brisson won both diving events for the Violets. He was victories in the one-meter dive (359.18) and the three-meter dive (397.65), setting team records in both events.
"We have some divers out with injuries, but Connor stepped up big time today," said Diving Coach
Todd Kolean.
Other individual winners for NYU included
Chad Moody in the 100-yard backstroke (51.58),
Tim Kou in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.99),
Carlos Colmenares in the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.76), and
Reid Hensen in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.97) and 200-yard IM (1:57.36).
"TCNJ just out -swam us today. We came out flat and TCNJ capitalized on it," Miele said. "I hope we can learn from this meet and get stronger as a team."
The Violets return to the pool for the MIT Winter Invitational, Friday-Sunday, December 2-4.
