ResultsThe New York University women's fencing team defeated Tufts University 18-9 on Sunday morning, January 13, on the campus of Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.
The Violets (5-10) now have two straight victories on the season after besting the Jumbos (1-6) by a score of 6-3 in all three weapons.
"The entire women's team came together to beat Tufts today," said NYU Assistant Coach Lauren Willock. "All three squads had decisive victories and it was a great way to finish the weekend. Everyone is looking forward to getting back to practice and preparing for our next meet at Columbia."Individually,
Anastasiya Muravyeva (3-0 in foil) and
Cydney Williams (3-0 in sabre) posted perfect records in their three bouts.
Hannah Bennett was a perfect 2-0 in epee.
HIGHLIGHTS:-
Joanna Tabor was 2-1 in epee, while
Alisa Traskunov posted the same record in foil.
Maria Free was 2-1 in sabre.
- Muravyeva amassed a 17-4 record over the weekend following her performance at the Eric Sollee Invitational on Saturday.
NYU will return to the strips when it travels uptown to neighboring Columbia University for the Historical Meet on Wednesday evening, February 10.
