The New York University men's volleyball team heads to Hoboken, NJ, this weekend for the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Championship Tournament, hosted by the Stevens Institute of Technology. The #4-seeded Violets will face fifth-seeded Emira College on Friday, April 10, at 4:00 pm.
Earlier this season,
NYU defeated Elmira in four sets. With a win in their quarterfinal matchup against the Soaring Eagles, the Violets would advance to the semifinals, potentially against the tournament host and top-seeded Ducks of Stevens Tech on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The finals are scheduled to take place Sunday at 2:00 pm.
NYU (16-10, 5-3 UVC) is currently ranked ninth nationally by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
The Violets are led by juniors
Nick Benson,
Colin LaPorte and
Phil Bueno, and sophomore
Chase Klein. Benson leads NYU in points (341.0) and kills (302) and is third in digs (100), LaPorte ranks third on the team in points (262.5) and kills (214), Bueno leads in total blocks (91.0) and is fourth in points (161.0), and Klein leads the Violets in service aces (23) and ranks second in points (298.0), kills (254) and digs (105).
