ACVA Top-15 Poll | Stevenson/Rutgers-Newark RecapAfter earning two hard-fought five-set victories to start the season, the New York University men's volleyball team moved up to #10 in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-15 Poll, released on Tuesday, January 27.
The Violets began their season with two come-from-behind victories over a pair of quality opponents. After trailing #14 Stevenson University 2-0 on Saturday, January 24, in Owings Mills, MD, NYU came back to win 3-2 behind a match-best 28 kills from junior hitter
Nick Benson.
Following that, NYU found itself trailing Rutgers-Newark University 2-1 before coming back to win 3-2 later that same day. The Violets were led by sophomore setter
Patrick Merrick's match-high 55 assists in the victory over the Scarlet Raiders.
The ranking by the AVCA is the highest for the Violets since they entered last season ranked in the same position in the
2014 Pre-Season Coaches Poll on January 14, 2014.
NYU will be back in action on Thursday night, January 29, when it travels to Poughkeepsie, NY, to face Vassar College. First-serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm, and
live stats and
live video will be available.
