The #14 New York University men's volleyball team (11-4) extended its winning streak to five with a straight-sets win over Dominican College (7-8) in Hoboken, NJ, on Tuesday, March 4.
The match was hosted by Stevens Institute of Technology, and the Violets won by scores of 25-22, 35-33, 26-24.
NYU lead from the opening point and never relinquished the lead in the first en route to a 25-23 set win.
The second set was as close as a single game could be with 31 ties and 11 lead changes. No team won more than three points in a row and no lead stretched larger than two. The Violets managed to overcome two set points against them on their way to a 35-33 victory, the team's highest-scoring set of the year.
The third set was similar to the first in that NYU led most of the way. But, just as it did in the second, the set needed extra points to decide the victor at 26-24.

Colin LaPorte each had a match-high 14 kills.

Phil Bueno recorded 11 kills with zero errors for a .846 hitting percentage.

The Violets return to action on this weekend, March 8-9, as they travel to Elmira, NY, to compete in the final United Volleyball Conference Crossover of the season. The squad is slated for three matches with the first coming on Saturday against Nazareth College. First serve is set for 3:00 pm.
