The New York University men's volleyball team lost two matches on Saturday, March 15, in Newark, NJ. The Violets lost to Princeton University in three sets by a score of 25-21, 25-20, 27-25 before falling to host Rutgers-Newark University in five sets by a score of 22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 16-25, 15-9.
Both Princeton and Rutgers-Newark are NCAA Division I squads.
The first match ended in straight-sets, but each of the three sets were highly competitive. The first set was tied at 16 before Princeton rattled off four consecutive points on its way to a 25-21 victory. The second set consisted of eight tie scores and four lead changes before the Tigers captured the set 25-20. Princeton overcame a NYU set-point at 24-23 before taking the final set in extra points 27-25.
The second match lasted five sets, but contained just six lead changes in the entire match. After a tight 25-22 first set, each of the final four sets were decided by five points or more.

NYU vs. Rutgers-Newark:
- Quirk once again led all players with 14 digs.

Patrick Merrick recorded his first career double-double with 36 assists and 12 digs.
- LaPorte led all players with nine kills.
- Jacob Getz had seven kills and seven digs.
The VIolets return to action next Sunday, March 23, when they take on New Jersey City University at 11:00 am and Hunter College at 1:00 pm in Jersey City, NJ.
