The New York University men's and women's fencing teams return to competition on Friday, February 21, at Columbia University scheduled for 6:00 pm in New York, NY.
The Violets will be up against the #1 Columbia men's team and #5 Columbia women's team. The Columbia men's team boasts a 26-2 dual record while the women's team is 21-7.
NYU is coming off of a strong showing at the Eric Sollee Invitational where the men's team finished 4-2 and the women went 3-3. So far this season, the men are 7-12 and the women are 6-14.
Christian Vastola and
Jess Sherman hope to continue their recent success after fencing extremely well over the last few weeks. Vastola earned a 17-1 record at the Eric Sollee Invite and received University Athletic Association (UAA)
Athlete of the Week honors for February 3. Sherman
earned the same honor on February 17 after finishing third in a field of 64 fencers at the Cobra Regional Open Circuit.
