Men's Volleyball Captures Road Victory

Violets Improve to 3-3 in Conference Play

Nick Capriccio was the only Violet to record double-digit kills.

The #13-ranked New York University men's volleyball team (7-4, 3-3) got back to its winning ways with a conference victory on the road against Bard College (3-12, 1-5) in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. The team won in straight-sets by a score of 25-16, 25-16, 25-12.
 
This win snaps a three-match losing streak and brings the squad back to .500 in United Volleyball Conference play.
 
NYU led virtually the entire way and controlled both sides of the ball by out-killing the Raptors 42-24 and out-digging them 35-21. In the end it was efficiency that was the difference maker as the Violets hit .681 in the match and held Bard to a .089 hitting percentage.
 
Highlights:

- Nick Capriccio led all players with 14 kills.

- Stephen Tan recorded six kills and a .667 hitting percentage.

- Matthew Coghlan has a match-high 12 digs.

- Jacob Getz and Arya Amirhekmat each had six kills. Getz also had eight digs.

- Derrick Chiu had a career-best 35 assists.

- NYU committed just six errors in the entire match compared to 17 by Bard.
 
The Violets return to action next Tuesday, February 25, when they host NYU-Poly in Manhattan. This will be the last-ever meeting between the two teams. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
