The New York University men's and women's fencing teams are set to compete this Sunday, December 7, at the Tradition Tournament, hosted by Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.
The competition will begin at 10:00 am, with the Violets facing host Sacred Heart, Harvard University, Princeton University, Penn State University, Temple University, and Vassar College.
Most recently, freshman
Hans Engel won a bronze medal at the North America Cup on November 8 in Louisville, KY, and was then named University Athletic Association (UAA)
Athlete of the Week on November 10. Engel competed in the Junior Epee portion of the event, coming into the tournament as the #19 seed and went undefeated through six pool-play matches before finishing tied for third place.
Freshman
Marissa Posner was also named
UAA Athlete of the Week on November 10 for her winning performance during the women's home-opener on November 6 against Stevens Institute of Technology. Posner
won all three of her epee matches.
On November 6, the men won their only dual match so far this season, defeating Stevens Tech 17-10. The women were defeated 16-11 by Stevens on that date.
